Learning to Slow Down with the Seasons
Share
Hi Friends,
Have you adjusted to the time change yet? I’ll admit, that early darkness is the one thing I struggle with this time of year. Thankfully, we had a few sunny days this weekend, and I made sure to soak up every bit of light before evening set in.
If you also find the shorter, darker days a little challenging, here are a few simple things that help me:
🌞 Soak up the light
Sit by a window or take a short walk when the sun is out. Even a few minutes of sunlight can lift your mood and help regulate your sleep. I like to start my mornings by looking out the window and letting the light touch my face.

🍂 Honor your natural rhythm
Fall and winter are the seasons of slowing down and rest. With the holidays approaching, it can feel hard to pause but it’s so important to give yourself permission to take things gently and find small moments of calm each day.

🎨 Surround yourself with art
Create a small gallery wall or a folder of images that bring you joy. Connecting with creativity, whether through painting, crafting, or simply appreciating art, helps make the longer evenings feel more peaceful.

🕯️ Find your favorite scent
Scents can completely change the energy of a space. Choose aromas that comfort or energize you. A warm bath or shower with your favorite soap can be such a simple but grounding ritual.

As the days grow shorter, I hope you find warmth and ease in these small rituals. This season invites reflection, rest, and gentleness, so don’t feel bad for wanting to slow down.
If these tips resonated with you, I’d love for you to join me for the 12 Days of Calm Challenge starting next month. You’ll receive a daily email with a small reminder to pause and breathe during the busy holiday season. Plus, there’s a special giveaway for those who participate all 12 days.
And stay tuned — my holiday collection officially launches on Black Friday, full of peppermint, pine, and the cozy scents of Christmas morning.
Wishing you a cozy, restorative week ahead,
Megan
